Our Approach
Welcome to Lavish Dog — where grooming feels calm, kind, and beautifully precise.
We believe your dog deserves more than a haircut; they deserve a peaceful, one-on-one experience built around comfort, safety, and trust.

Every appointment is quiet, intentional, and tailored to your dog’s needs. From puppies learning the process to seasoned seniors, our stylists work patiently and gently so each visit feels safe, never rushed.
1
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Grooming isn’t about vanity — it’s about wellbeing. Every dog deserves care that honors their comfort and individuality.
Our stylists work one-on-one with each pet, reading body language, adjusting pace, and ensuring they never feel rushed or stressed. We believe beauty follows comfort — and a confident, relaxed dog always looks their best.
2
HOW WE PRICE
At Lavish Dog, our goal is to provide every dog with a calm, detailed grooming experience that prioritizes both quality and comfort. Over time, we’ve found that many full grooms naturally take more than one hour when factoring in coat prep, drying time, and finishing work.
To reflect the real time and care that each appointment requires, we charge a base charge of one hour and fifteen minutes on full grooms. This adjustment allows our team the space to work thoroughly while keeping your dog’s experience low-stress and consistent.

Current Hourly Rates:
• Under 75 lbs — $70 to $75 per hour
• Over 75 lbs — $80 to $85 per hour
• Giant Breeds — $110 per hour

Minimum Charges (Vary by breed)
Full Groom — $87.50
Mini Groom — $57.50
Shed-Less Bath — $50
Each breed has their own respective minimum time allotment to ensure we keep staff and pets as stress-free as possible.

Thank you for trusting us to care for your dog as if they were our own. This structure helps us protect the wellbeing of our team and maintain the calm, quality-first grooming experience Lavish Dog is known for.

PUPPY GROOMS
We recommend beginning your puppy’s grooming journey around three to four months of age, after their first round of vaccinations. Early visits are not full grooms—they’re gentle, confidence-building sessions designed to help your puppy learn that grooming is safe and even enjoyable.

Each appointment includes a bath with puppy-safe shampoo, towel drying, light brushing, nail trimming, and soft touch-ups around the face or feet if your puppy is ready. The focus is on comfort, sound exposure, and positive association—not perfection.

Starting young makes all the difference. Puppies who visit regularly during their first year grow into confident, cooperative dogs who enjoy grooming for life. Waiting until your puppy is older or matted can make the process stressful and much harder to undo later.

If you’re unsure when to start, we’re happy to guide you toward the right timing and approach for your puppy’s first visit.
5
MATTING & PELTED COATS
Mats happen—and when they do, our focus is always on safety and comfort first. A matted coat can pull on the skin, restrict movement, and hide irritation, so every case is approached with care and honesty.

Light Matting
If your dog has mild tangles that can be removed safely, we’ll gently brush them out at $2 per minute. This process takes patience and adds time to the groom, but it helps preserve coat length while keeping your dog comfortable.

Severe Matting or Pelted Coats
When matting is tight to the skin or covers large areas, the only safe option is to remove it with a close shave. This process is delicate and charged at $100–$140 per hour, depending on size and coat type. It allows us to remove the mats without causing pain or injury, and we’ll always discuss it with you before proceeding.

Matted Ears & Hematomas
Removing severe mats from the ears can temporarily increase blood flow to the area. Some dogs may shake their heads afterward, which can cause swelling or small wounds at the ear tips. We recommend monitoring your dog closely after grooming and limiting head shaking for a few days to prevent irritation.

Our goal is never just to “get the job done.” It’s to keep your dog safe, comfortable, and cared for—even when that means adjusting expectations for the sake of their wellbeing.

1
BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT
You can book online or by phone at 655-6226 (Raymond) or 572-4084 (Standish). During booking, we’ll ask a few quick questions about your dog’s breed, coat, and behavior so we can pair you with the right stylist.
Once your appointment is confirmed, you’ll receive a link to complete our Appointment Information Form before your visit. This helps us prepare for your dog’s specific needs and ensures a smooth start.
2
CANCELLATIONS AND ARRIVAL
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for all cancellations or reschedules. Appointments are reserved one-on-one for your dog, and last-minute changes are difficult to fill.

-
Less than 24 hours’ notice: Full prepayment required for the next appointment.
-
Same-day cancellations: 50% of the scheduled service will be charged.
-
No-shows: Charged in full and may result in removal from our client list.

If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, we may not have enough time to complete your service and your appointment may be considered a no-show.
3
DROP OFF AND INTAKE
When you arrive, we’ll take a few minutes to review your dog’s coat, health, and style goals. This is your time to share any updates, behavior notes, or preferences. We’ll assess coat condition, discuss realistic options, and make sure your dog’s groom plan aligns with their comfort and safety.

You’ll be given an estimated pick-up time at drop-off. Please plan to arrive at that time — we do not call when grooms are complete. Because we don’t use kennels, only temporary holding areas, on-time pick-up is essential to maintaining a calm, one-on-one salon environment.

A $2-per-minute late fee applies after 10 minutes, and may begin immediately for dogs who become anxious or disruptive while waiting.
4
THE GROOMING PROCESS
Your dog will be groomed start-to-finish by one stylist unless additional support is needed for safety or comfort. Every session is adjusted to your dog’s behavior, coat, and tolerance level.

If anything unexpected arises — such as matting that requires shaving or a skin concern — we’ll contact you before proceeding. For all other updates, you’ll receive details at pick-up so we can stay focused on your dog’s comfort throughout their appointment.
5
PICK-UP & CHECK-OUT
Please arrive promptly at your scheduled pick-up time. We’ll review your dog’s experience, note any coat or skin observations, and share care recommendations to help maintain their groom between visits.

If your dog’s appointment took more or less time than estimated, we may suggest updating your future booking length for accurate pricing and timing.

Our goal is for every visit to feel calm, clear, and fair — from the moment you book to the moment you walk out the door with a happy, well-cared-for dog.
Frequently Asked Questions
Addressing some questions or concerns you might have about your appointment with Lavish Dog.
1
HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY DOG BE GROOMED?
That depends on your dog’s coat type, lifestyle, and desired style. Most dogs do best on a 4–8 week schedule.
Longer styles or shedding breeds may need more frequent visits to keep coats healthy and prevent matting.
2
WHAT IF MY DOG DOESN'T TOLERATE GROOMING?
We take a gentle, behavior-based approach and always prioritize safety and emotional wellbeing.
If your dog shows signs of stress, we may pause, modify, or shorten the service to keep the experience positive.
In some cases, we may recommend shorter sessions, ongoing desensitization appointments, or a referral to a behavior-focused grooming specialist.
3
DO YOU GROOM SENIOR PETS?
Yes. Senior dogs often have unique needs, and we take extra steps to ensure their comfort.
For older pets, the goal shifts from style to comfort — we may use slower drying methods, modify handling, or keep hair shorter for easier upkeep.
Some seniors may receive a comfort shave before the bath to make sure they can still get a full haircut even if they can’t tolerate drying.
Our focus is always on keeping your dog clean, safe, and stress-free.
4
DO YOU GROOM AGGRESSIVE DOGS
We evaluate this on a case-by-case basis. If your dog has shown aggression in the past, please tell us before booking.
We may recommend a meet-and-greet first or refer you to a facility equipped for behavioral grooming if safety could be a concern.
5
CAN I STAY WITH MY DOG DURING THE GROOM?
For safety and focus, we don’t allow owners to stay during the appointment. Most dogs are calmer and more cooperative once their person has left — it helps us work safely and efficiently.
We also limit distractions in the salon to maintain a peaceful environment for all dogs in our care.
If anything unexpected arises, we’ll contact you before making any decisions about your dog’s groom.
6
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?
We require at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel any appointment.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice require prepayment for the next visit.
Same-day cancellations are charged 50% of the service total, and no-shows are charged in full.
